Thank you so much for running - and writing about - this experiment, Craig.

I'm not at all surprised by the results. I have never trusted any social media - including Substack - to be fair about how their algorithms are set up.

There is no free lunch. The social media behemoths are not building their platforms to be beneficent. They want something from their legions of users.

All social media have their own interests and agendas at heart. And if there is one agenda they will all congregate around, it's the one that is aimed at keeping us NPC/sheeple.

Why? Because when you're after power (and even the pursuit of money is really the pursuit of power) it is very necessary to be able to control as many people around you as possible.

For years I refused to participate in social media of any kind, because I felt that anything I said (a) would have limited reach, (b) would be used against me at some point in the future, and (c) would just become part of their monitoring programs so that they could better control the masses (a case in point: the "Nudge Unit" the UK used to herd everyone around during covid).

I have since taken on a "What the hell" attitude. I stay anonymous, but I say pretty much what I like, and if they want to come after me they are going to have to do some work IRL, not just kick me off their stage.

Don't let yourself be ground down by the algorithm. Just say your piece and one day the message in the bottle will wash up on the right shore and end up in the right hands. It's not about The Crowd (they will never change), it's about reaching the diamonds in the rough.
