Five and a half years ago, my dog had surgery to remove a cancerous growth. It was major surgery. After the surgery, the vet—a family member—told me that I was looking at probably another year with him. About 15 months later, he was, indeed, dying. Could barely stand up. Couldn’t go up or down stairs.
So, I’m really sad, naturally, and was searching around the Internet and came across a bunch of dog owners who said they had cured their dogs’ cancer with turkey tail mushrooms, which grow wild practically everywhere in the world. So, I went to the local natural foods store and asked whether they carried turkey tail mushrooms. Yeah, says the guy and as he was taking me to where they were on the shelf he told me one of his co-workers’ mother had had stage 4 breast cancer. He had put her on four capsules per day and her cancer completely disappeared.
Okay, cool, so I bought a bottle and started giving Buddy four capsules per day, just because that was what the guy at the store said. Within about two weeks, he was like a puppy again—bouncing around happily when someone grabbed the leash to take him out, jumping into my truck without assistance—it was amazing. And, of course, I was overjoyed. You know how attached we get to our dogs. Marvelous creatures, dogs.
Buddy is 13 years old now and still going strong. People usually guess his age at 2-3 years old. I still give him four capsules of turkey tail per day. He doesn’t like them and quickly figured out ways to separate them out of his food. You’d see his tongue working, then out would pop the capsule from the side of his mouth and he’d swallow all happy and ready for the next bite. So, now I take a piece of bread, smear peanut butter on it, put the four capsules on the peanut butter, then fold it over. He has not yet been able to master peanut butter, though it was funny watching him try.
There have been a couple of times I have run out of the turkey tail, and the effect has been immediate. He noticeably begins to decline. I resume the mushrooms and the result is immediate improvement. Truly remarkable.
Anyway, I know this isn’t the type of thing I usually publish, but I’ve become like an evangelist for turkey tail mushrooms because of all the extra years I’ve been able to spend with a cherished friend because of them. I’m posting this in case there is someone on this list who can benefit from these amazing plants. (Mushrooms are up there with the octopus in terms of mind-blowing nature.) And, per the guy at the health food store, they apparently have the same healing benefit for humans. Worth a try for loved ones.
So keep that in mind or bookmark this page for future reference.
Finally, of course, you know there will be pictures.
And even a :56 video.
What a handsome boy Buddy is! I also liked that the clip doesn't have a cheap Hollywood happy ending: Buddy doesn't get the strip in the end because that's life.. You win some strips, you lose some.
As a retiree on a small fixed income I try to be prudently (not miserly) frugal and had planned to subscribe to Unsheathed next month, but Buddy's photos and story made me react emotionally ("gotta help Buddy get his Turkey tail mushroom dose regularly!"). Would a man in my situation, even one as much of a dog lover as I am, react in the same way? Probably not. He'd have waited until next month. That's why I am not sure at all that women-- most women-- should have the right to vote...Not many men either, come to think of it.. A test of IQ and emotional stability is needed.....
thank you. I wish I would have known this 5 years ago and will look into turkey tail mushrooms
